• For a given material, groove depth depends mainly on average shot dose (rep rate x motif size/tracking speed)
• Use different motifs to generate complex patterns
• For small features, energy requirements are modest but high rep rate is useful

• Moving a circular motif always makes a groove with elliptical cross-section, regardless independently of direction

• For other shapes, profile depends on tracking direction
